TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 25-ranked Washburn Ichabods picked up a 5-4 non-conference win over Rockhurst on Tuesday at the Washburn Tennis Complex. 

Washburn, now 12-4 on the season, snapped a two-match losing streak to Rockhurst (6-6) after jumping out to a 2-1 lead after doubles. The nationally-No. 16-ranked duo of Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and Blake Hunter topped Oskar Unger and Joe Ibarra 8-3 at No. 1 doubles and Matt Barlow and Zach Hampton picked up an 8-3 win over Jonas Stropus and Nicolas Riveros at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, the Ichabods won the top three flights in straight sets with Valarezo Plaza, Barlow and Hunter all picking up wins. Barlow's victory at No 2 singles clinched the match for the Ichabods. Washburn lost matches four through six in singles as the Hawks swept the bottom half the Ichabod singles line up.

Washburn will be back in action with Newman on Sunday at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
