Ichabods swept in doubleheader with No. 25 Bearcats

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball team had its season come to an end with a twinbill sweep by Northwest Missouri on Saturday afternoon falling 8-4 and 10-0. 

Game 1 - #25 Northwest Missouri 8, Washburn 4
The Bearacats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third and then would go up 7-0 after adding four more in the fifth inning.
Washburn took advantage of a Bearcat error in the fifth to score a run, but Northwest came back with a solo run of its own in the sixth going up 8-1. 
In the sixth, Washburn scored three times after Lexie Myers walked and Megan Stegman singled. Marina Quimby singled to left picking up an RBI. Taylor Zimmerman singled to right scoring both Quimby and Stegman ucttnig the lead to 8-4 but the Ichabods would get no closer.
Washburn outhit the Bearcats 13 to 12 in the opener, but stranded 11 runners on base.
Ashley Ruder, Quimby, Zimmerman and Sierra Kemp all had two hits to lead the Ichabods.
Samantha Carson took the loss in the circle falling to 10-11 overall.

Game 2 - NWMSU 10, WU 0 (6 innings)
The Bearcats scored solo runs in the first and third inning and broke it open with five more in the fifth and three more in the sixth leading to the 10-0 win in six innings.
Washburn picked up three hits as Sierra Kemp, Haylee Marsteller and Lexie Myers all had hits with Marsteller's coming on a double.
Ashley Wills took the loss in the circle pitching four innings before giving away to Quimby for the remaining two innings.

Washburn finishes the season 19-27 overall and 8-18 in the MIAA. The Bearcats improved to 36-12 and 19-7 in the MIAA.
