GREAT BEND, Kan. -- The women's junior varsity basketball team fell to 0-2 Friday, losing to Northern Oklahoma College – Enid 77-63.
Hayley Thompson put up 25 points in a career-best effort, but the Ichabods were hampered by a rough first half where they shot just 28 percent from the field. They were also victims of an impressive 22-26 performance from the free-throw line by the Jets.
KayLee Farmer was the only other Ichabod to score in double figures, as her 2-3 mark from the 3-point line contributed to her 14 points.
Jordan Lenherr had a tough time shooting, going 0-5 on field goals, but gave a solid rebounding performance, leading the Ichabods' with 12. Washburn was able to outrebound NOC-Enid 34-28 for the game.
After falling behind 32-21, the Ichabods had a strong second half, shooting 52 percent from the field and 8-11 on free throws, but after cutting the lead to eight at the end of the third quarter, the Jets ran away with a 26-point fourth quarter.
The Ichabods will look to get their first victory of the season Saturday, where they will take on Redlands Community College at 1 p.m. in the Barton County Community College-hosted Best Western Booster Club Classic.
