SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Ichabod women's tennis team posted its second shutout of the season with a 9-0 win over McKendree, Saturday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Logan Morrissey and Makenna Gonzales paired up to kick things off for Washburn with an 8-1 win over Kaela Mack and Kaylie Comley. Dynamic duo
Madeline Hill and
Jacqueline Engelbrecht picked up where they left yesterday evening, posting their 15
th victory of the season in an 8-1 decision over Anna Mernick and Tori Lindsay.
Madison Lysaught and
Ally Burr picked up the final doubles point with an 8-2 victory over Jess Molinari and Jess Gaither.
The Ichabods dominance carried over into singles play as Washburn completed the sweep with six victories. Engelbrecht put on a dominant performance downing Lindsay 6-1, 6-0 to put the Ichabods up 4-0.
Morrissey picked up the clinching victory of the afternoon for the Ichabods in a 6-0, 6-1 win over McKendree's Mack.
Hill improved to 20-1 on the season as she took down Mernick in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Gonzales and Lysaught posted identical 6-1, 6-1 victories over Comley and Molinari, before Burr would complete the clean sweep with a 6-1, 6-3 ousting of McKendrees Gaither.
The Ichabods improve to 3-1 on the season, while McKendree falls to 2-2. Washburn will return to action on Feb. 11 when the team travels to Oklahoma City, Okla to face Oklahoma Baptist.
