SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Washburn women's tennis team dropped its first match of 2017 to No. 20 Drury in a 2-7 decision Friday evening at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
After falling behind early and trailing 2-1 heading into doubles action, the Ichabods weren't able to recover and picked up its first loss of the season.
The 12th-ranked duo of
Madeline Hill and
Jacqueline Engelbrecht continued their dominance in doubles play as they picked up the Ichabods only doubles point of the evening with an 8-4 win over Panthers, Larissa Karl and Julie Schapp.
Hill would keep her near perfect singles record intact with a thrilling three set victory over Larissa Karl in singles play.
Washburn will return to the court tomorrow afternoon with a 1 p.m. start time against McKendree.
