ST. JOSEPH, Mo. ---- The Washburn women's tennis team ended a four-match skid with a commanding 5-1 victory over MIAA foe Missouri Western Wednesday afternoon.
Washburn got out to an early lead after snatching two of three doubles points. No. 7
Madeline Hill and
Jacqueline Engelbrecht kicked off things for the Ichabods with an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles for the pair's 24th victory of the season.
Madison Lysaught and
MaKenna Gonzales paired up for only the second time this season to knock off a pair of Griffon netters in an 8-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Ally Burr and
Logan Morrissey were defeated at the No. 2 spot, 8-5.
With a 2-1 lead in hand Washburn continued on to singles play. Â Eighth-ranked Hill collected her 31
st win of the season with ease after defeating Sofia Aguilera in straight sets 6-1, 6-0.
Gonzales picked up her second win of the afternoon in a win at No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-2.
Morrissey rebounded from her loss in doubles play to clinch the match at No. 3 singles in straight sets 7-5, 6-0.
Engelbrecht was headed to a third set at No. 2 doubles after splitting the first two  4-6, 6-4.
Lysaught was leading on court five at the halfway point in the second set with score of 6-1, 3-2.
Washburn improves to 9-7 on the season and will prepare for its meeting with Emporia State on April 8.
