DURANT, Okla. – The Washburn Ichabods improved to 4-0 on the season winning a pair of games on day two of the Southeastern Oklahoma State Invitational after topping Oklahoma Baptist 11-3 and then defeating the host Storm 5-2. The Ichabods will wrap up the invite with two more games on Sunday with Rockhurst at 9:30 a.m. and Cameron at noon.
Game 1 – Washburn 11, Oklahoma Baptist 3 (6 innings)
The Washburn Ichabods opened Saturday play taking advantage of four Bison errors leading to a seven-run sixth inning en route to a 11-3 win.
Taylor Kirk recorded five RBI in the game including a three-run walk-off blast to end the game helping the Ichabods to move to 3-0 on the season.
Savannah Moore led the Ichabods with three hits and
Alyssa Carney had two hits with a team-high three runs scored. Moore also drove in two in the win.
Kelsee Henry improved to 2-0 in the game before giving way to
Lexi Crabtree who pitched the final 1 1/3 innings.
Game 2 – Washburn 5, Southeastern Oklahoma State 2
Megan Dieter struck out seven over 6 2/3 innings and
Savannah Moore drove in two as the Ichabods fought off a late rally by the host squad in a 5-2 win.
Washburn picked up two in the top of the first when
Alyssa Carney and
Savannah Moore each had RBI staking Washburn to the 2-0 lead.
No team scored until Washburn added a solo run in the fourth inning on an RBI single to center chasing home
Halle England as the Ichabods went up 3-0.
In the fifth, back to back solo home runs by Moore and
Taylor Kirk pushed the lead up to 5-0.
The Storm came back with two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but
Aubree Herrin came in to get the final out of the game for the win.
Samantha Stallbaumer had two hits as did Moore in the win.
