SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The No. 19 men's tennis team left Springfield, Missouri with a victory Saturday, shutting out McKendree 9-0.
The doubles sweep featured the No. 4 nationally-ranked team of
Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and
Blake Hunter winning 8-5 over the Bearcats' No. 1 doubles team, as well as victories by the teams of
Paul Haase/
Chase Brill and
Bradley Eidenmueller/
Raul-Alin Dicu.
In a lineup shuffle, the singles sweep of McKendree saw Eidenmueller take over the No. 4 spot, while
Chase Brill won at the fifth slot and
Tommy Hunter won in his first duals match at the sixth slot. All six of the Ichabods singles victories came in straight sets.
At 1-1, the Ichabods will have a one-week break before traveling to take on Oklahoma Baptist University at 1 p.m. Saturday in Oklahoma City. This will be the first dual of the season for OBU. For more information on the 2018 men's tennis season, visit wusports.com.
