GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas --- The final day of the Air Hogs Classic was not kind to the Washburn Ichabods as they fell, 5-1, to Arkansas Tech and slipped to 2-2 on the year.

Washburn had various chances to extend its 1-0 lead but were unable to push runners across leaving nine on base including a bases loaded opportunity in the second.

Jake Hahn put the Ichabods on the board during the second inning as a single through the middle allowing Kolton Meyer to score from second after reaching on a single to the left side and advancing on a wild pitch. Meyer finished the day with two hits on at-bats. Josh Crosby also had tallied a pair of hits on the day in four plate appearances.

Sam Carver dazzled early in his Ichabod debut as the starter struck out two of the first three batters faced and allowed just one hit. From the second to fourth innings, Carver left Arkansas Tech (3-1) hitless while notching three more strikeouts en route to a season-high of eight. Carver however was dealt the loss as he lasted 6 1/3 innings before relievers Nathan Lorenzen, Trevor Marreel, and Jack Christian combined to toss the final 2 2/3 innings.

The Wonder Boys got to Carver in the seventh as they plated three in the seventh, before added a run in the eighth and ninth innings. 

Washburn will return to next weekend with a four-game series against Southeastern Oklahoma in Durant. The series begins Friday with first-pitch slated for 1 pm.
