Baseball falls to RiverHawks in game two

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- After falling behind early in game two of its series on Saturday, the Washburn Ichabod baseball team were unable to recover as it fell to Northeastern State 7-3 in Tahlequah, Okla. Originally slated for 1 pm, Sunday's series finale from Rousey Field has been rescheduled 10 am.
 
Josh Crosby was first to the put the Ichabods on the board following a lead-off double to begin the fourth. Brady Hoover notched the RBI in the next at-bat for his 11th of the season.
 
In the sixth, Javis Larson then registered his 11th RBI of the year as a single scored Bowe Behymer from second to make it 5-2 RiverHawks. Behymer reached on a double.
 
The final Ichabod run came in the ninth as Steve Jacobson drove in Larson from first with a two-out triple to center after Larson reached on a hit by pitch.
 
Northeastern State (13-10, 5-6 MIAA) jumped out to an early advantage with a four-run first inning. After adding one run in the second to make it 5-0 the RiverHawks were held to one hit during the next three frames before tallying a two-run sixth.
 
Starter Tanner Strickbine was dealt the loss after conceding five runs, four earned, on six hits with two walks in two innings. Matthew Hicks was effective in his three-scoreless innings of relief as he limited NSU to one hit. Trevor Marreel and Braden Larkey combined for the final three stanzas. Larkey was virtually spotless as he held the RiverHawks hitless during the seventh and eighth innings.
 
Washburn finished the day with six hits and five runners left on base, while NSU tallied nine hits and left six runners stranded, both teams were also charged with an error.
