Lincoln, Neb. – The Washburn women's tennis team advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive year after taking down Northwest Missouri 5-3 on Monday.

The Ichabods fell behind 2-1 after doubles, with the No. 2 team of Jacqueline Engelbrecht and Ally Burr coming away with the lone victory. The No. 1 team of Alexis Czapinski and Logan Morrissey lost for the first time in 18 matches in an 8-3 decision to Tania Teruel and Irene Recuenco.

In singles, Czapinski and Morrissey avenged their loss with a pair of singles wins, tying the score at 3-3 after six matches. MaKenna Gonzales scored a victory for the Ichabods with a straight-set win, and Madison Lysaught clinched the duals victory for the Ichabods with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles.

With the win, the Ichabods will go on to face the No. 1 seed Northeastern State in the MIAA semifinal round. The RiverHawks defeated Missouri Western 5-0 in their quarterfinal match. In the two teams' meeting in the regular season, the RiverHawks came away with a 6-3 win over the Ichabods.
