Allison Maxwell became the third different Washburn volleyball representative to garner weekly accolades as she was named MIAA Hitter of the Week for her performance during the week of Sept. 17. It's the third straight time the Ichabods have been represented this week.
A native of Jefferson City, Mo., Maxwell played a key role in the Ichabod attack as she paced the team in kills (40) and kills per set (3.33). She registered a pair of 15-kill performances against Emporia State and at Lindenwood while tallying 10 more at No. 13 Central Missouri to pushed the Ichabods' consecutive win streak to 17-straight. In regards to hitting, Maxwell was highly efficient as she posted a team-best .354 hitting which included a .542 hitting mark Friday in Lindenwood.
Defensively, Maxwell tallied a team-high 12 blocks in the three-game stretch which included an impressive nine-block effort versus Emporia State on Sept. 18.
With the announcement from the conference office, Maxwell joins teams
Makayla Maxwell and
Shayla Conner as the other Ichabods this season to earn their first career weekly accolade.
Washburn will return to action this weekend as it continues its six-game road swing with trips to Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State.
