MARYVILLE, Mo. -- Washburn Soccer put together its fourth shutout victory of the season on Friday afternoon as the Ichabods defeated the Northwest Missouri Bearcats 2-0. The match was highlighted by a two goal game from Olivia Grasso and a 10 save performance from keeper Whitney Bockover. The Ichabods improve to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA.

Grasso gave Washburn an early 1-0 lead in the 14th minute of play when she netted a goal off a pass from Ellie Karloff. Northwest Missouri had an opportunity to score on a penalty kick two minutes later, but Whitney Bockover held on for the save. Bockover would go on to make four more impressive saves in the first half.

After the first 45 minutes, Washburn held a close lead in shots with eight to Northwest Missouri's seven. The Bearcats led in shots on goal, 5-2. 

In the 77th minute, Grasso struck again and added an insurance goal to push the score to 2-0. Mackenzie Heiman recorded the assist on the goal.

Bockover continued to hold her ground and made three saves in the final 10 minutes of regulation to seal the Washburn victory.

At the end of the match, both teams had attempted 14 shots and NWMSU took double the amount of shots on goal, 10-5.

Grasso took three shots in the match and scored her second and third goals of the season. Josie Rimmer attempted four shots with two on goal. Also forcing the Bearcats to make a save, Kelsi Smith took a shot on goal. Bockover grabbed a career-high 10 saves in the match and recorded her second shutout victory this season. She is 3-1 on the year.

The Ichabods will play the Missouri Western Griffons in St. Joseph, Mo., this Sunday, Sept. 30. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
