CLAREMORE, Okla. -- Washburn soccer shuts out Rogers State, 1-0, on Sun., Oct. 13. The Ichabods are now 6-5-0 over and 2-3-0 in MIAA matches. Washburn tallied 10 shots with six of them on goal.
In the first half both teams were scoreless. Rogers State out shot Washburn 8-2, but tied in shots on goal with two each.
Tera Lynch and
Olivia Grasso each took on a shot on goal for the Ichabods.
Raegan Wells tallied two saves.Â
At the start of the half Washburn attacked first with a shot on goal from
Halle Hill. Washburn scored in the 69th off a corner kick that was headed into the goal by a Hillcat defender. Ichabods took a 1-0 lead over the Hillcats to win the match. Washburn defense kept the Hillcats to only nine shot attempts in the second half. Lynch led Washburn with three shots on goal and Grasso tallied two. Wells finished the match with eight saves and her fourth shutout of the season.
Washburn soccer will return home to face Newman on Fri., Oct. 18 at p.m. and then host Central Oklahoma on Sun., Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.
