SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn men's tennis team won the top-25 battle against No. 20 Drury as the Ichabods claimed the 4-3 victory on Sunday. Washburn improves to 2-1 overall.
Washburn took two of the three doubles matches played to earn one match point and take the early lead. The duo of Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and
Paul Haase continued to add to their season win column as they won 7-5 at No. 1 doubles.
Raul-Alin Dicu and
Bradley Eidenmueller picked up a 6-2 match victory at No. 3.
After dropping the first two singles matches to the Panthers, Haase and
Chase Brill responded with wins the No. 3 and 6 slot to give the Ichabods a 3-2 lead.
Marc Roura Casi followed in suit and handled his opponent 6-3, 6-3 to clinch the team victory.
Washburn will travel down to Oklahoma City, Okla. to face Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 9. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m
