SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Washburn women's tennis team wrapped up a winning weekend in Springfield, Mo., as the Ichabods defeated the Drury Panthers, 4-3, on Sunday. Washburn improves to 2-0 to start the spring season.
The Ichabods jumped out to an early lead in the match after they earned the doubles point with a 6-2 victory from
Jacqueline Engelbrecht and
Svea Crohn at No. 2 doubles and a default by Drury at No. 3.
Washburn quickly earned the first singles point on a default by Drury at No. 6 singles and
Alexis Czapinski added another point with a win at the No. 2 slot. Crohn's key 6-2, 6-1 victory clinched the overall team win for the Ichabods and snapped a seven match losing streak to the Panthers.
Washburn will travel down to Oklahoma City, Okla. to face Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday, Feb. 9. The dual is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
