OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Washburn women's tennis team continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon as the Ichabods picked up their third consecutive victory in a 5-2 decision over the Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison (0-2). The Ichabods are off to a 3-0 start to the season.

Washburn started the dual on a strong note by sweeping the doubles competition. The duo of  Alexis Czapinski and Logan Morrissey notched their 10th win of the season for an overall record of 10-3. Jacqueline Engelbrect and Svea Crohn blanked their opponents with a 6-0 victory while the tandem of Kinsey Fields and Maria Soler Valverde won their match 6-3.

Czapinski gave the Ichabods a 2-0 lead after posting a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles. The Lady Bison responded with wins at the 1 and 3 slot, but the Ichabods went on to win the next three matches for the 5-2 team victory. Crohn improved to 3-0 in No. 5 singles after her 6-0, 6-2 triumph. Madison Lysaught also remains perfect at No. 6 singles and clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-2 decision. Morrissey added the final point for Washburn, winning in a three set tie-breaker 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4).

Washburn will stay on the road and travel down to Dallas, Texas next weekend for a pair of matches. The team will take on Southern Arkansas at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 and then face Dallas Baptist the following day with a first serve scheduled at 11 a.m.
