TOPEKA, Kan. -- The No. 24 Washburn women's tennis team picked up their third-straight victory Sunday morning as they defeated Nebraska-Kearney, 6-1. The Ichabods improve to 8-1 on the season and are 2-0 in MIAA play.
The Ichabods started off strong and swept the doubles competition.

Logan Morrissey turned in a 6-2 performance at the top of the order and move to 7-2 on the season.

Kinsey Fields both won their matches by the score of 6-4. Soler Valverde and Fields remain undefeated at No. 3 doubles and are now 7-0.
Washburn lost just one match in singles action as they rolled to victories down the lineup two through six. Morrissey got things started for the Ichabods with a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 slot. Czapinski holds on to her perfect record at No. 2 singles with her 6-3, 6-2 victory. She is now 9-0 in the regular season and 13-2 overall. At the fifth position, Crohn clinched the team victory as she easily handled her opponent 6-0, 6-1. Soler Valverde posted a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 4 and 
Madison Lysaught rounded out the scoring for the Ichabods with a three set battle at No. 6. Lysaught came out on top 6-1, 1-6, 10-8.
The win for Washburn snaps a six-match losing streak to the Lopers and gives the Ichabods their first victory against UNK since 2012.
 
The Ichabods will get right back on the courts on Tuesday, March 12, as they host Central College (Division III). The match is scheduled to take place at the Washburn Tennis Complex with a first serve coming at 2 p.m.
