ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The No. 8-ranked Washburn women's tennis team swept the doubles competition and lost just one singles match against Missouri Western on Sunday afternoon en route to a 6-1 victory. With the win, the Ichabods extend their winning streak to eight matches and improve their record to 13-1 (4-0 MIAA).
Washburn swept the doubles competition and took an early 1-0 lead. On court No. 1, 
Alexis Czapinski and 
Logan Morrissey shut out their opponents, 6-0. The duo is now 10-4 for the regular season. 
Kinsey Fields and Maria Soler Valverde also picked up their 10th doubles victory at the No. 3 slot with their 6-2 decision. The pair moves to 10-1 in the spring. 
Jacqueline Engelbrecht and 
Svea Crohn battled it out for the final doubles match, winning 7-6, for their 10th win also.
In singles action, Czapinski got things started on a strong note and didn't drop a single game in her 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 slot. She remains undefeated at 14-0 in the regular season and 18-2 overall. Crohn also blanked her opponent, 6-0, 6-0, at the fifth position. Soler Valverde clinched the team victory at No. 4 as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win. Morrissey won 6-4, 6-1 on the third court. After dropping the first set, 
Madison Lysaught battled back and rounded out the scoring for Washburn with her three set win, 0-6, 6-4, 10-3.
The Ichabods will stay on the road this upcoming week and travel down to Emporia State to face the Hornets on Thursday, March 28 at 2 p.m.
