TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team split an MIAA doubleheader falling in game one 3-1 before putting up a double-digit score with a 10-3 win in game two over Northeastern State. Washburn will be back in action on Saturday at No. 2-ranked Central Oklahoma starting at 12 p.m.
Game 1 – NSU 3, WU 1
Washburn's lone run came in the second inning after
Halle England reached after being hit by a pitch and would then come around to score on a double to center by
Bri Francis. The Ichabod run cut the lead to 2-1, but recorded four hits the rest of the game in the loss.
England had two hits for Washburn and
Raegen Hamm took the loss in the circle scattering four hits.
Game 2 – WU 10, NSU 3
The Ichabods scored seven runs in the second and third innings rolling to the 10-3 win pounding out 14 hits in the process.
In the second inning,
Kameron Kissinger drove in England and
Taylor Kirk and two more Ichabod runs came around to score after a RiverHawk error.
Washburn added three more in the third inning on a three-run blast by Kirk scoring Francis and England who both reached on singles.
Savannah Moore drove in a run in the fourth with a single scoring
Brianna Fuchs who walked. The Ichabods added two more in the seventh on an RBI single by England and a double by Fuchs.
Bailey Zuniga tossed 4 1/3 innings allowing two runs for the win.
England had three more hits in the second game to finish with five for the day while also scoring three runs in the second game.
