EDMOND, Okla. --- Washburn baseball was edged out, 2-1, in the series opener with Central Oklahoma on Friday, slipping to 21-20 overall in the process and 12-16 in the MIAA.

Javis Larson tallied the lone Ichabod run in the second after reaching on a one-out single. Larson then collected a team-best 18
th stolen base of the season as he advanced to second before hustling home on double by
Steven Jacobson.

Larson led the Ichabod bats with a 3-for-3 outing, extending his hit streak to seven hits in his seven at-bats.

In a pitchers' duel, starter
Josh Ramirez put together a solid performance, striking out seven batters and scattered six hits in eight innings of work, but did not factor into the result.

Ramirez held the Broncho offense to two hits during the opening three frames while facing 13 batters before recording a three-up, three-down inning in the sixth. The only hiccup for Ramirez during the outing was a two-hit one-run fifth tying the ballgame at 1-1.

Reliever
Brock Gilliam then took over in the ninth though stumbled out of the blocks, surrendering a lead-off hit before being charged with an error and a hit a pitch. The Bronchos then pushed across the winning run with a sacrifice fly.

Washburn will resume the series with Central Oklahoma on Saturday with first pitch from Wendell Simmons Field scheduled for 3 pm.
