TOPEKA, Kan. --- A late inning rally was not enough for Washburn Ichabod baseball (13-17, 7-13 MIAA) on Saturday, falling, 4-3, in game two of their series with Southwest Baptist (12-20, 6-14 MIAA).
Â
Trailing 4-0 in the eighth, Washburn cut the margin to one with a three-run frame.
Javis Larson snapped the scoreless drought with a one-out sacrifice fly scoring
Steven Jacobson.
Peter Shearer then drove in two more runs with a double down the right field line.
Â
Southwest Baptist pushed one run across in the first while adding to its cause with a two-run sixth.
Â
The Ichabods bats were quiet early as they were outhit 10-6 in the effort.
Michael Oyervides led the way as he was 2-for-3 at the plate with singles in the sixth and eighth for his third-career multi-hit game. Larson,

Â
Despite a strong effort early, Washburn starter
