EDMOND, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabods fell for the first time in the MIAA Tournament with a 4-1 loss to Missouri Western in the conference tournament semifinals on Thursday night. The Ichabods will now face Northeastern State at 10 a.m. in an elimination game on Friday morning.
The Griffons, who have won their last 17 games, jumped on the board first with a solo run in the second inning taking the early 1-0 lead.
Missouri Western (36-14) would score three runs in the bottom of the third inning taking advantage of an Ichabod error adding two unearned runs sending eight the plate taking a 4-0 lead.
Neither team would score until the sixth inning when the Ichabods' (27-25)
Taylor Kirk hit her team-leading 14th home run of the season cutting the lead to 4-1, however the Ichabods went down scoreless in the seventh in the loss.
The Ichabods picked up seven hits in the game with
Brianna Fuchs, Kirk,
Winter Henry, Sienna Hall,
Halle England,
Maddie Stipsits and
Ashley Ruder all collecting hits. Henry and Stipsits base knocks were both doubles.

Bailey Zuniga (13-9) took the loss pitching two innings allowing two earned runs and
Raegen Hamm tossed four scoreless innings scattering three hits with six strikeouts. Hamm also tied the Ichabod single-season record for the most appearances with her 42nd in the game tying Amy Heiman from 1999.
Washburn stranded seven runners in the game.
