HAYS, Kan. -- Ichabods fell short to Fort Hays State on Fri., Sept. 27, 1-0. Washburn is now 4-2 so far this season. The teams each had nine shot attempts. Fort Hays led the Ichabods in shots on goal, 5-4.
In the first half both teams were scoreless. The Ichabods tallied three shots on goal, two coming from Mackenzie Menke. Ichabod defense was led by Kati Sneegas and Mattie Miano and the two contributes to Washburn keeping Fort Hays shotless for the first 15 minutes of the match. Raegan Wells saved all two shots on goal taken by the Tigers. Washburn out shot the Tigers in the first half, 5-3.
In the second half, the Tiger found the first opportunity. Fort Hays forward, Cailey Perkins, scored in the 46th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Ichabods. Tera Lynch responded with a shot but could not find the back of the net. Raegan Wells finished the match four saves. Menke and Olivia Grasso led Washburn in shots on goal with two each.
Washburn soccer travels to Kearney, Neb. on Sun., Sept. 29Â to face the Lopers at 1 p.m. in the first official MIAA match of the 2019 season.Â
