SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – No. 20 Washburn women's tennis started off the spring season with an exciting down-to-the-wire 4-3 win over Cameron on Saturday. 

The Ichabods quickly found themselves down early as the Aggies swept the doubles competition to go up 1-0.
 
Svea Crohn won the first point for Washburn at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-4 victory. Cameron went up 2-1 with a three set win at the No. 3 spot. At the top of the order, Maria Soler Valverde won the first set 7-6, but fell in the second 1-6. She rallied in the third to win 6-2 to even the team score at 2-2. Cameron won in straight-sets at No. 4 and needed just one more victory to claim the dual win.
 
At No. 5 singles, Madison Lysaught turned in a quick 6-2, 6-1 decision to make the score 3-3. It all came down to Kinsey Fields, who came away with a pair of 6-2 scores to clinch the Ichabod victory.

The Ichabods will stay in Springfield, Mo., for tomorrow's match against Drury at 10 a.m.
