FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team were swept in a doubleheader at Nova Southeastern on Saturday afternoon falling 3-1 in each game. The Ichabods will wrap up their eight-game road trip to Florida on Sunday with a pair of games against Lynn starting at 11 a.m. EST.
Game 1 – NSU 3, WU 1
After the Sharks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning in the opener, the Ichabods tied the score in the top of the fifth on an RBI single by
Jenna Moore scoring
Hadley Kerschen who led off the inning with a single. However, the Sharks came back with two unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 3-1 and the Ichabods (0-6) were retired in order in the sixth and seventh innings.
Moore had two of the four hits for the Ichabods in the opener and
Ashlie Thissen tossed 4 1/3 innings allowing one earned run. Washburn left five base runners on in the opener.
Game 2 – NSU 3, WU 1
The Ichabods again jumped out to an early lead scoring a run in the top of the third on a RBI single to left by
Jenna Moore scoring Emilee Dixon who reached after getting hit by a pitch. The Sharks (6-2) came back with a run in the third, an unearned run in the fourth and another run in the fifth to sweep the series in the 3-1 win.

Samantha Dutton and
Brianna Fuchs all had hits for the Ichabods as each team finished with five hits.
Raegen Hamm struck out four in five innings of work allowing two earned runs.
