TOPEKA, Kan. – Ichabods women's JV basketball had a bounce-back game in a 92-60 win over Neosho Community College. Washburn, as a team, made 30 of their 68 shots for 44 percent, including 9-for-21 from deep.
Washburn got out to an early 12-0 lead, with
Chloe Carter scoring nine of them. Washburn would hold the lead for the entire game. The first quarter slowed down as Ichabods led 17-13 after 10 minutes.
Another great start in the second as the Ichabods went on a 9-0 run to take a 26 to 14 lead.
Raegan Wells scored four on the run, and Carter scored five. The Panthers were within three before fouling Washburn on three consecutive possessions. Lakyn Schiefereck took four of the six free throws in that span and made all of them. Schiefereck was a perfect 6-for-6 at the line. Wells also made it to the line a ton, going 7-for-10 in the second and 12-for-16 for the game. Washburn led 41-32 at the half.
In the third quarter, the offense turned it up even more outscoring the Panthers 32-13. Schieferecke and Maddy Hutly made two three-pointers, starting a 23-4 run for Washburn. Hutley led the team in the quarter with eight points. As a team, the Ichabods almost shot 65 percent from the field.
The final quarter was tight, but the Panthers still struggled to make baskets. Neosho, trying to give themselves a shot made just four of 29 shots. Washburn, however, continued to make the very few shots they attempted, going 7-for-15.
