BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – Washburn Ichabods men's tennis defeated Southeastern Oklahoma State, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at The Club at Indian Springs.
The Ichabods lost the doubles point to the Savage Storm, as only the duo of
Raul-Alin Dicu and
Daniel Bird won their match 7-6 (7-5) on court No. 3.
Miquel Perez secured Washburn's first point as he won with scores of 7-5 and 6-3 from the No. 2 spot.
Marc Roura Casi defeated his opponent by 6-1 and 6-4 to take the next singles point from the sixth spot.
Paul Haase then gave the Ichabods a 3-1 lead as he took down his opponent with scores of 6-1 and 6-3 from the third spot in the lineup.
Dicu fell to his opponent, 6-3 and 7-5, at the top of the lineup to make the score 3-2 Washburn.
Bradley Eidenmueller got the clinching point at No. 4 as he won with scores of 7-5 and 7-5. Prevailing through a tough matchup,
Daniel Bird closed out the match with another Washburn point as he overcame his opponent with scores of 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, and 6-3, to lead the Ichabods to a 5-2 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State.
Washburn improves its record to 3-1 as Southeastern Oklahoma State falls to 2-3 this season.
The Ichabods return home to host Barton County Community College on March 5. The match is set to start at 1 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
