TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn men's tennis team blanked Barton County Community College, 7-0, on Friday afternoon at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
The Ichabods swept the doubles point, starting with a 6-1 victory by

Miquel Perez from the No. 2 spot. The duo of
Raul-Alin Dicu/
Daniel Bird then defeated their opponents by a score of 6-2 from the third spot to take the doubles point. The No. 1 doubles duo of
Sebastian Pjontek and
Bradley Eidenmueller then closed doubles action out with a 7-5 win to ensure the doubles sweep.
Dicu opened singles action with a long match which he persevered through to win with scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 6-3 from the top of the lineup. From the No. 3 spot, Haase followed with a win of 6-2 and 6-0. Perez then defeated his opponent with scores of 7-6 (7-5) and 6-1 from the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Bird won his match from the fifth spot with scores of 6-3 and 6-3. Pjontek then battled through a long battle to defeat his opponent by 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 and 6-4, from the No. 4 spot.
Miller Zeiders closed out the match with a victory by scores of 6-4 and 6-4 to ensure the 7-0 sweep for Washburn.
The Ichabods travel to Lake Nona, Fla., to face Northwood University of March 9. The match is set for 11 a.m. at the USTA National Campus.
