Ichabods 5th after the first day of the MIAA Track and Field Indoor Championships

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's track and field team sits in fifth place after the first day of the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Washburn Indoor athletic facility. On Saturday, the Ichabods set four schools records and sent three into event finals while picking up a second, a third and two fourth-places finish picking up 23 points.
 
Sierra Mortensen finished second in the 5000m run with a time of 17:42.22 earning eight team points and earning second team all-MIAA honors,
 
Virgi Scardanzan was third in the pole vault breaking her own school record for the second team picking up six points and third team all-MIAA honors with a mark of 4.12m which was also an NCAA Automatic qualifying height. Rachael Mayberry was fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.02m earning five team points for the Ichabods.
 
Shae Ware was fifth in the pentathlon earning four team points with a school record 3,478 points. She fiished second in the long jump, third in the 800m, sixth in the 60 hurdles and 11th in the high jump.
 
Advancing to Sunday's finals were Isabella Hohl, who broke the school record in the 60m with a time of 7.76 was sixth in the prelims and she also broke the school record in the 200m as well in a time of 25.78. Lyndsay Stinson was eighth in the 400m in a time of 59.07 setting a personal best.
