Ichabod women's track and field brings back records, NCAA provisional marks from Manhattan

MANHATTAN, Kan. -- The Washburn women's track and field team turned in a powerful showing on Friday with a limited squad, collecting two school records and five NCAA Division II provisional marks at the K-State Ward Haylett Invitational in the Little Apple. The Ichabods will wrap up the regular season with the UNK Last Chance Invitational with a limited number of athletes competing on Sunday looking to improve their possible NCAA National Outdoor Championship hopes.

Kereser Augustin headlined the day with a standout performance in the 400 meters, winning the event with a school-record time of 54.00 seconds. Her mark not only shattered her own previous school best of 54.35 but also met the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard. Isabella Kupka followed close behind in second place with a strong time of 55.80, giving the Ichabods a sweep of the top two positions.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Eve Weber claimed first place in a personal-best and school-record time of 10:32.21—breaking the her previous program record of 10:35.07 and earning another NCAA provisional qualifier moving up to 17th on the national list.

Riley Ammons took ninth place in the 800 meters with a personal-best 2:28.59, while Ayva Darmento finished tenth in a personal-best 2:32.50. Darmento returned later in the 1500 meters to notch a ninth-place finish in 5:19.72, followed closely by Eva Matteucci in tenth place at 5:22.86.

In the pole vault, Reagan Housley cleared 3.81 meters (12-06.00) to secure eighth place and another NCAA provisional standard.

In the discus, Ilaria Villa earned fourth place with a mark of 46.91 meters (153-11), meeting the NCAA provisional standard. Tyler Smith landed in sixth place at 38.01 meters (124-08).

Paola Castaldi won the event with a toss of 55.31 meters (181-05 inches), earning first place and a provisional mark. Adriel Holloway was close behind in third place with a throw of 54.47 meters (178-08 inches), also a provisional mark and Tyler Smith placed fourth at 51.80 meters (169-11).
