VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 21-ranked Washburn men's tennis team fell to No. 7 Valdosta State, 4-0, on Thursday at the VSU Tennis Complex.
Valdosta State took the doubles point for an early advantage as the Ichabods fell in all three doubles matches. In singles action,
Miquel Perez fell from the No. 2 spot by scores of 1-6 and 4-6 as the Blazers took the first singles point. From the top spot of the lineup,
Raul-Alin Dicu fell to his opponent by scores of 3-6 and 1-6 as Valdosta State took a commanding 3-0 lead. Then,
Paul Haase fell from the No. 3 spot with scores of 5-7 and 2-6 to give the Blazers the clinching point. The fourth, fifth, and sixth spots ended unfinished as the Blazers took the clinching point to sweep the Ichabods 4-0 in a tough loss.
No. 21 Washburn falls to a 6-2 record this season, while No. 7 Valdosta Stata improves to 5-0.
The Ichabods return home for an exhibition match against Cowley County Community College on March 17 at 1 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
