TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 18 nationally ranked Washburn men's tennis team shut out the Emporia State Hornets, 7-0, on Sunday at Washburn Tennis Complex.
The Ichabods swept the doubles point to start the match, including two sweeps from the duos of
Miquel Perez/
Paul Haase (No. 3) and
Raul-Alin Dicu/
Daniel Bird (No. 2). Haase started off singles action with a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory from the third spot. Perez then followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win from the No. 2 spot. From the top of the lineup, Dicu came out with a 6-2, 6-1 victory to clinch the Washburn win.
Bradley Eidenmueller defeated his opponent by scores of 6-3, 6-1 from the fourth spot, before Bird won his match by scores of 6-3, 6-0 from the fifth spot.
Marc Roura Casi ensured Washburn's 7-0 sweep of Emporia State as he closed out the match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory from the bottom of the lineup.
The Ichabods improve to a 9-2 record, while the Hornets fall to a 6-3 record.
Washburn will host Southern Arkansas on April 11 at 1 p.m. at Washburn Tennis Complex.
