TOPEKA, Kan. – The No. 18 nationally ranked Washburn women's tennis team defeated Southern Arkansas, 5-1, on Saturday at the Genesis Tennis Center. 
 
Playing to clinch, the Ichabods won two doubles matches while the third went unfinished to clinch the doubles point. The No. 3 doubles duo of 
Svea Crohn and 
Maria Soler Valverde defeated their opponents by 6-1. 
Logan Morrissey and 
Marta Torres then took down their opponent from the top of the lineup by a score of 6-2. 
 
In singles action, Crohn won the first point from the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-1 and 6-2. Morrissey then followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory from the fourth spot. After the Muleriders won their lone match at the top of the lineup, 
Maria Soler Valverde clinched the Washburn win with a 6-4, 6-1 victory from the No. 3 spot. 
Maja Jung won her match by 6-1, 6-1 from the No. 5 spot immediately after the clinch to lead the Ichabods to a 5-1 victory over Southern Arkansas.
 
Washburn improves to 12-1 on the season while Southern Arkansas drops to 6-11.
 
The Ichabods are set to face Fort Hays State on April 16 at 3 p.m. in Hays, Kan., before heading to Kearney, Neb., to face Nebraska-Kearney at 1 p.m. the next day.
