TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – The No. 19 nationally ranked Ichabod women's tennis team defeated Northeastern State, 6-1, in conference play to improve their record to 10-1 overall (3-1 MIAA).
 
After a tough conference loss on Friday, the Ichabods looked to bounce back against conference foe Northeastern State. Washburn took the doubles point as both the No. 2 and No. 3 court earned victories. 
Maja Jung and 
Kinsey Fields took a 6-1 win at the second spot, before 
Maria Soler Valverde and 
Svea Crohn sealed the doubles point from the third spot by defeating their opponents, 7-6 (3-0).
 
In singles action, Washburn won five of the six points. 
Marta Torres won the first singles point from the top of the lineup as she defeated her opponent by score of 6-2, 6-1. Soler Valverde followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win from the No. 4 spot. After 
Logan Morrissey fell at the fourth spot, Jung took a 6-4, 6-4 victory from the fifth spot to clinch the Ichabod win. Crohn battled at No. 2 to take down her opponent by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. 
Cadence Lynn won the final point from the bottom of the lineup as she took a 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) victory.
 
The Ichabods improve to 10-1 on the season with a 3-1 record in MIAA action. Northeastern State evens to 6-6 overall, 2-2 MIAA.
 
Washburn returns home to host Missouri Western on April 9 at 2 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
