Ichabods ride record-setting day to 6th place finish at SBU

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Washburn women's track and field team had one of its best outings since restarting the program five years ago as the Ichabods finished sixth at the Southwest Baptist Invitational out of 18 teams at the meet. Overall the Ichabods added six new records to the books with 22 personal bests and one NCAA provisional mark after day two of the event.
 
After setting the school record in the 100m prelims in a time of 12.14, Isabella Hohl would go on to finish fifth in the finals of the event with a time of 12.17. It was the first of two records for Hohl on the day as she would also set the school mark in the 200m in a time of 25.23. The previous mark of 12.31.
 
Lily Johnson crushed the 1500m record en route to a third-place finish in a time of 4:37.75 besting the previous mark of 4:47.61. Taylor Gonzales finished fifth in a time of 4:38.23 and Sierra Mortensen was seventh in a time of 4:42.51.
 
Kaylee Snell took second place in the 3000m in a time of 10:32.26 taking 36-plus seconds of the previous school record which stood at 11:08.67.
 
The Ichabods picked up three individual wins as Skyler Saunders won the high jump with a mark of 1.67m (5-05.75) and Virgi Scardanzan won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional mark of 4.00m (13-01.50) setting an outdoor personal best.
 
Shae Ware finished third in the heptathlon with 4,911 points breaking the Ichabod record which was 4,031 entering the weekend. Ware had outdoor personal bests in all seven events.
