Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Two First-Half Goals Bring Washburn Soccer Victory

Kearney, Neb. – Washburn soccer scores two first-half goals to keep them undefeated on the season (4-0). The Ichabods have not had a first-half goal coming into the game.

At the beginning of the game, Nebraska-Kearney looked to be in control keeping the ball on the Ichabods side of the field for about 18 of the first 20 minutes. What seemed to be another slow start for the Ichabods changed about halfway through the first half. Once again, Khloe Schuckman lit the spark as she had two great shots on goal before finally putting one in the upper right corner at the 23rd minute. Washburn took the first lead in a game for the first time since their season opener against William Jewell.

Schuckman made quick work of her second goal a couple of minutes after on a corner kick from Tera Lynch. Schuckman ended with five shots and three on-goal. The Ichabods had a two-goal lead for the first time all season. Washburn would hold that lead for the rest of the game.

Nebraska-Kearney played good defense like they have all season except for those couple of minutes. For the rest of the game, they held the Ichabods to just one other clear look at the goal. The Lopers once again unable to score a goal in a fourth straight game. Aspen Brandich has the lone goal back in their first game against MSU Moorhead.

Ichabod goalkeeper Raegan Wells performed well as she let up zero goals and saved three shots. Wells also took a lot of opportunities away from the Lopers that won't show up on the stat sheet. The defense helped Wells at by only allowing three shots all games

Washburn has a tough matchup in store on Sunday, September 19. The Ichabods travel to the No. 6 ranked Emporia State Hornets. The kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
