PARSONS, Kan. -- Washburn women's junior varsity lost its opening game of the 2022 season to Labette Community College, 82-46.
The Ichabods were outscored 21-13 in the first quarter but remained competitive. In the second quarter the Cardinals outscored Washburn 24-5 to take control of the game.
In the third quarter the Ichabods outscored Labette 19-15 but were unable to make up more ground in the fourth quarter before ultimately falling 82-46.
Hayley Ventura and Bailey Collar led Washburn in scoring, each with 11 points. Collar knocked down three of the Ichabods' seven 3-pointers in the game. Raegan Wells added nine points on 3-6 shooting and Riley Hett had seven points, eight rebounds and two steals.
Janai Smith led the Cardinals in scoring with 17 points on 6-11 shooting.
Washburn will play Life Prep Academy in Lee Arena on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m.
