TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn used a high-scoring, balanced offensive effort to outlast Ottawa on Monday night, winning 92-89.  

After falling behind early, 16-6, the Ichabods scored the next nine points to narrow the deficit. After the Braves regained some of the lead, Washburn had a 10-0 burst in the closing minutes of the half. Six of the points came from Cameron Heiman to help put the Ichabods up 40-39 at the break.  

Ottawa came out of halftime knocking down four triples in the first three minutes, helping to build a seven-point advantage. After the Braves' shooting cooled off Washburn was able to chip away at the lead, taking a lead of their own with 10:45 left to play after a 3-pointer by Isaiah Braynen.  

Each time Ottawa came back to tie or take a small lead the Ichabods had a response. After the game was tied at 87 with under 90 seconds left Heiman hit a 3-pointer to put Washburn up by three. Washburn would win the free throw battle to finish the game, holding on to win 92-89.  

Cameron Heiman had a game-high 31 points, knocking down six 3-pointers. Isaiah Braynen had 24 points and 11 rebounds. Josh Jamison also had a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds, while also adding three steals. Trever Quaney added 13 points on 4-5 shooting as the Ichabods won a second straight game.  

The Braves were led by Ethan Clark who finished with 20 points. He was one of four Ottawa players to finish with double figures. Washburn won the rebounding and free throw battles in the game to pull out the victory. They held a 43-35 advantage on the boards and made 22 free throws compared to just 14 for the Braves JV Black team.  

The Ichabods will take on Ottawa's Gold JV team on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Lee Arena.
