TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod women's tennis fell, 5-2, against Southwest Baptist on Friday. 
 
In doubles competition, Svea Crohn and Marta Torres quickly won their match, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.  The duo leads the team with an 8-2 record. The two other doubles teams found ways to win tight matches as Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid secured the doubles point with a 7-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.
 
The Ichabods (4-8) swept doubles when Kinsey Fields and Maja Jung won their match by the same score, 7-5. Fields and Jung hold a 7-2 doubles record.
 
Southwest Baptist (5-7) clinched the victory, winning the first four singles matches. Despite losing the match, Cadence Lynn dominated at No. 6 singles in a 6-1, 6-1 victory. In the final singles match, Schmid lost the first set 6-2 then won a second-set tiebreaker, 7-6(2), to force a third set. Unfortunately, Schmid dropped the super tiebreaker 10-7.
 
The Ichabods returns to action on Saturday, March 26 at noon. Washburn looks for its first win over a ranked opponent hosting No. 25 Nebraska-Kearney.
