WICHITA FALLS, Tex. – The Ichabods lose back-to-back, 4-3, games this time against No. 22 Midwestern State. The Ichabods are 4-4 on the season.

Washburn again earned the doubles point for the seventh time in eight matches this season. Kinsey Fields and Maja Jung did not complete their match Friday but were the first to finish against Midwestern State. Fields and Jung earned the 6-4 win from No. 2 doubles, putting the Ichabods in a great spot. Marta Torres and Svea Crohn's 6-4 victory at third, gave Washburn the lead.

Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid fought to the very end, however, fell in a tiebreaker. The duo lost 7-6 (6) at No. 1 doubles.

Martensson kept it going in singles play with her straight set victory at No. 2 singles. She won the first set 6-4 and her second set 6-3. The Mustangs pulled within one when they defeated Torres, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. Then Midwestern State tied the match up at two apiece with a win over Schmid at No. 3 singles. Schmid kept it close with a 7-5 first set but fell 6-1 in the second. Jung losing in the fourth spot gave the Mustangs their first lead. In both sets, Jung was in them until the end, losing 7-5 and 7-6 (6). The match was on the shoulders of Fields and Crohn.

Fields responded with a 7-5, 6-3 victory from the bottom of the lineup, giving Washburn a chance to win. Unfortunately, Crohn dropped her final two sets after winning the first.
The Ichabods are looking to bounce back with a trip to Azusa, California, to take on two more ranked opponents. Their first is on Saturday, March 12, at noon.
