EMPORIA, Kan. – The No. 59 Ichabods end their road stretch with a 5-2 victory at Emporia State. Washburn went 5-1 during the road stand and stayed unbeaten in the MIAA.
 
In doubles competition, No. 33 Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid continued their hot streak against Victoria Mackova and Karen Santiago Sanchez with a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles. Svea Crohn and Marta Torres got back to their winning ways, defeating Paige Stranghoner and Andrea Santiago, 7-5.
 
Maja Jung and Kinsey Fields battled to a tiebreaker but did not finish their match tied, 6-6.
 
Martensson limited Santiago in a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. In the third position, Crohn also won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, over Stranghoner. Washburn clinched its sixth conference win when Torres topped Micaela McSpadden, 6-3, 7-6(2).
 
Cadence Lynn and Issabella Pensavalle took their matches to a third-set super tiebreaker. Pensavalle grabbed the win over Kelsie Burr, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0(10-5) at the bottom of the lineup. Unfortunately, Lynn's match went the other way, with her losing a tight contest to Mackova, 4-6, 6-4, 1-0(10-8).
 
Emporia State (6-10) earned the final two match points against Lynn and Jung at No. 5 and No. 2 singles.
 
The Ichabods return home for the final two matches of the regular season. Washburn hosts Northeastern State on Saturday, April 23, at 2 p.m. for senior day.
