TOPEKA, Kan. --- The No. 50 Ichabods swept Northeastern State on Senior Day, 7-0, to move to 7-0 in MIAA action. The win sets up Washburn for a chance at the MIAA women's tennis regular-season title against Central Oklahoma on Sunday.

At No. 3 doubles, Marta Torres and Svea Crohn did not let up, taking down Irene Romero and Melissa Vera, 6-0. The 26th-ranked doubles team, Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid win their ninth straight match against Vera Carvalho, and Alisha Moldakhmetova, 6-3.

Maja Jung and Kinsey Fields led 5-3 before the match stopped due to Martensson and Schmid clinching the doubles point.

In singles play Jung dominated in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Chiara Carnelutti in the third position. Schmid moved back up to No. 4 singles after playing the fifth position in the last seven matches. Schmid made the move count with a 6-2, 6-4 against Belinda Jayaprakash. Torres went to three sets at the top of the lineup to secure the Washburn (13-9) victory. Torres dropped the first set 6-3, then won the next two by scores of 6-1 and 6-2.

In her first appearance at No. 5 singles, Martensson topped Vera, 6-3, 6-2. The two seniors finished the sweep of Northeastern State (5-13). Crohn, in the two spot, dropped her first set 6-1, then turned the tables with a 6-1 second-set victory and a 6-4 third-set win. Fields won in straight sets at the bottom of the lineup, 6-2, 6-2.

The Ichabods set their eyes on the MIAA regular-season title against No. 4 Central Oklahoma on Sunday at 11 a.m. at Washburn Tennis Complex.
