CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Ichabods lost game one of the three-game set at Rogers State on Thursday afternoon, 7-2. Game two of the series will be Friday at 2 p.m.
The Hillcats (22-21, 14-14 MIAA) threatened in the bottom of the second and had the bases loaded with two outs, but Washburn starter

In the following inning, Rogers State hit a double and single to get things started. RSU scored the first run on a wild pitch and went up 2-0 on an RBI groundout. With the bases juiced again with two outs, Steward closed the inning without further damage with a groundout.
It was the Ichabods' (27-15, 17-11 MIAA) turn to fill up the bases in the top of the fourth after a single, walk, and when everyone was called safe on a fielder's choice. Washburn was unable to push a run across, though, as the inning ended on a pop up.
Rogers State landed a leadoff double for the second-consecutive frame in the fifth and went on to score three unearned runs, two of which were scored on a two out two-run homer, to extend its lead to 5-0.
The Hillcats added another run in the fifth to lead, 6-0.
Trevor McCollum was hit by the first pitch of the sixth inning and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Cal Watkins sent a 3-2 pitch through the left side for an RBI single to get the Ichabods on the board at 6-1.
Rogers State got that run back in the bottom of the sixth on a bases loaded fielder's choice. The Ichabods ended the frame during the next at bat when a perfect throw home got the runner out.
The Ichabods didn't quit as the ninth inning started with Watkins reaching base on an error and a pair of groundouts moved him up to third.
Otto Jones entered the game as a pinch hitter and ripped a two out double to left field to plate the final run of the game.
Rogers State out hit Washburn, 10-5. Watkins played a part in both of Ichabods' runs as he had a hit, walk, RBI, and run scored.
Brett Ingram was 2-4 on the day with a double.
