BLUE NOTES
• The Washburn Ichabod softball team will take its nation's-best 20-game overall winning streak into the regular season finales at Emporia State on Saturday.
• The Ichabods received votes in this week's NFCA Top 25 Coaches Poll coming in at No. 26.
• Washburn was ranked No. 7 in the latest NCAA Central Regional Poll. The rankings do not include the wins over Rogers State on Monday.
• The 22 MIAA wins for the Ichabods is the most since recording 23 during the 2018 season when the Ichabods won the regular season title.
• The Ichabods (40-11, 22-2 MIAA) have won their last 20 games coming off a 4-0 weekend of MIAA play after sweeping the RiverHawks and the Hillcats … the 20-game winning streak is the longest in the nation entering the weekend.
• After the sweeps over Northeastern State and Rogers State last week, the Ichabods improved to 26-0 in home games this season at Gahnstrom Field … the 26-game winning streak is the second-longest in the nation entering this week's action behind Augustana who has won the last 37 at home … additionally, the 26 wins is the most by an Ichabod team at home since recording 19 during the 2002 season when the Ichabods were 19-2 … the last Ichabod team to go undefeated in home games was in 2006 when the team was 14-0.
• The Ichabods are currently in first in the MIAA standings, two wins ahead of Central Oklahoma. Washburn has its two games remaining with Emporia State while Central Oklahoma has four games remaining with doubleheaders at Missouri Southern and at Pittsburg State.
• The Ichabods can clinch no worst than a share of the MIAA regular season championship with two win at Emporia State this weekend. Two win at Emporia State and a loss in any of the Bronchos' four remaining games would give the Ichabods the outright championship.

Brenda Holaday is in her sixth season as the Ichabod softball head coach recording a 173-112 overall record going 89-41 in MIAA contests leading the Ichabods to their first MIAA Regular Season title in her second year in 2018 and an NCAA Central Regional berth, the fourth in school history.
• The Ichabods finished the home slate at Gahnstrom Field 26-0.
• Washburn moved its school-best winning streak to 20 games.
• The 26-game winning streak at Gahnstrom Field is currently the second-longest in the country trailing Augustana's 43-game streak.
• The 20-game Washburn winning streak is the longest in the NCAA D2 ranks ahead of Augustana's 19-game streak.
• The Ichabods recorded their first 40-win season since 2002 when the Ichabods went 48-11 … overall the Ichabods have had now four seasons with at least 40 wins - 41 (1999), 48 (2002) and 50 (1986) and this season's 40 to this point.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
• The Ichabods were 4-0 last week with sweeps over Northeastern State and No. 8-ranked Rogers State.
•
Jaycee Ginter was 3-0 with a 0.35 earned run average in four appearances with two complete games adding a save holding RiverHawk and Hillcat batters to a 0.95 batting average striking out 19 walking only one scattering six hits in 20 innings of work.
• Autyumn Schreiner had what would be the game-winning home run against Rogers State in the second game on a 3-run homer.
• In the first game against Rogers State,
Ashton Friend's two-run homer broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the seventh for the walk-off win.

Marrit Mead,
Kimi Patterson and
Jaden LaBarge each had four hits and LaBarge scored a team-high three runs during the week.
• The Ichabod pitching staff recorded an ERA of 0.97 for the week.

Jaycee Ginter leads the NCAA Division II ranks with 26 wins season entering the weekend … out of all NCAA Division I, II, and III she is ranked second behind Georgina Corrick from South Florida who has 28 wins … she is sixth in total strikeouts with 248 … she already owns the Ichabod single-season strikeout mark … with the bat, she is 15th in the nation in RBI with 51.
• In MIAA play
Paige Robbins is batting .458 and
Jaycee Ginter has 27 RBI in 16 conference games.

Raegen Hamm became Washburn's all-time leader in strikeouts at Nebraska-Kearney passing Kathy Mohler who played for Washburn from 1997-2000 … Hamm enters the weekend with 437.

Ashton Friend is ranked 17th in the nation in home runs with 14 and leads the MIAA in the category … she is also ranked 22nd in the nation in RBI.

Marrit Mead is ranked fourth in the nation in hits with 75 and first in the nation in total doubles with 21 … the current leader in hits has 80 entering this week.
• As a team the Ichabods lead the nation in being hit by a pitch … Washburn has had 57 batters reach base after getting plunked.
• Washburn is seventh in the nation in total hits with 463 while leading the MIAA.
• Washburn is also eighth in fielding percentage, eighth in doubles and 39th in home runs.

MIAA PRESEASON POLL
The Washburn Ichabod softball team was tabbed sixth in the MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll that was released prior to the start of the season by the league office.Â
The Ichabods picked up 117 total points trailing Missouri Western in fifth with 118 and Missouri Southern in fourth with 124. Central Oklahoma was the preseason favorite with eight first-place votes and 162 total points and Central Missouri had 158 points with six first-place votes. Rogers State was third with 142 points.

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn Ichabod softball team hit the 40-win plateau using clutch home runs in both games as the Ichabods swept No. 8-ranked Rogers State to finish the season 26-0 at Gahnstrom Field winning their 25th and 26th games in a row on Monday.
Game 1 – WU 2, RSU 0
Starting pitcher
Jaycee Ginter limited the Hillcats (39-9, 16-6 MIAA) to a sixth inning single as she faced one over the minimum while
Ashton Friend's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh was the difference as the Ichabods (40-11, 22-2 MIAA) won the opener.
The home run was Friend's 14th of the season while Ginter increased her nation's best 26th win of the season in the circle. Friend had two of the Ichabods' four hits while
Marrit Mead and Ginter contributed to the others off RSU's Andrea Morales who fell to 23-3 on the season.
Ginter singled up the middle to start the seventh inning and Friend's shot to center came on an 0-2 count and bounced off the fence for the winner. Ginter struck out six in the opener.
Game 2 – WU 3, RSU 2
In the nightcap, the Ichabods fell behind 2-0 after a two-run homer by Lana Gass in the third inning. Up until the fifth inning, the Ichabods were stymied on offense as Washburn's lone hit came in the first in Ginter's single up the middle.
In the fifth,
Jaden LaBarge led off the inning with a single and then
Kimi Patterson singled up the third base line. With two outs,
Autymn Schreiner came to bat and hit her third home run of the season driving in three putting Washburn up 3-2.
Raegen Hamm tossed the first five innings scattering three hits and striking out five and was relieved by Ginter who pitched the sixth and seventh innings giving up two hits. Hamm moved to 10-6 overall and Ginter had her third save of the season.
Five different Ichabods had hits in the second game.

• The Hornets are 24-26 and 13-11 in the MIAA this season after splitting doubleheaders with Northeastern State and Rogers State over the weekend.
• Maddy Broxterman and Brittanie Shepherd each have a .353 batting average to lead the team and Shepherd has a team-high 55 hits while Broxterman leads the team with 34 RBI.
