Men's Tennis remain in the top-20 of ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. – Washburn men's tennis remain in the ITA National Team Rankings' top-20 at No. 18, released on April 28. Columbus State is the top-ranked men's team for the fifth straight week.
 
The Ichabods hold a 17-5 record and a 15-5 Division II record. Washburn swept Bethel College then lost to Harding, 4-2.
 
In the ITA National Singles Ranking, freshman Tim Hammes is the highest-ranked Ichabod at No. 28. Hammes dropped two spots despite going 2-0 in singles during the week. He leads Washburn with a 20-6 singles record this season and tied the Washburn men's tennis freshman record for most singles wins in a season. Senior Raul-Alin Dicu fell out of the rankings despite winning both in doubles and singles. Dicu also clinched the doubles point and victory for Washburn against Bethel.
 
Sebastian Pjontek and Matthew Earle won their doubles match against Bethel then lost to No. 31 Dani Ortiz and Arthur Bellan . The doubles team still climbed two spots back into the top-25 at No. 24 in the ITA National Doubles Rankings. The duo leads the Ichabods with a 14-9 doubles record.
 
The Ichabods wait to see if they are selected to play in the NCAA Central Regionals on May 3, at 7 p.m. Washburn me are currently ranked No. 4 in the region.
