EDMOND, Okla. – The Ichabods advanced to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals with their 4-0 sweep against Emporia State. It is the fifth time in six years the Ichabods won the first round of the MIAA Tournament.  
 
The Ichabods (14-10) worked quickly through doubles competition. No. 24 Lara Schmid and Isabella Martensson finished first, defeating Viktoria Mackova and Karen Santiago-Sanchez, 6-1. Washburn earned the doubles point not long after when Marta Torres and Svea Crohn topped Kelsie Burr and Macaela McSpadden, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles.
 
Kinsey Fields and Maja Jung held the 4-2 lead at no. 2 singles however since the doubles point was clinched their match was not completed.
 
Washburn remained hot, cruising through singles competition as the team won three straight-set matches to secure the victory. Martensson coasted to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles over Mackova. At No. 2 singles, Crohn gave up one set point in her 6-1, 6-0 rout against Pesic. The Ichabods sealed the sweep of Emporia State (7-13) when Jung topped Santiago-Sanchez 6-2, 6-1, in the third position.
 
The Ichabods advance to the MIAA Tournament Semifinals on April 30, starting at 10 a.m. The Washburn women will play the third seed in Missouri Western.
