EDMOND, Okla. -- The No. 23-ranked Washburn Ichabod softball team rallied with four runs in the bottom of the sixth for a come-from-behind 6-3 win over Missouri Western on Friday advancing to the winner's bracket finals where they will face Rogers State at 3 p.m.
Washburn (44-11) jumped on the board in the bottom of the first after
Paige Robbins drew a walk and then after a single by
Ashton Friend, who come around to score on a single from
Jaden LaBarge going up 1-0.
Missouri Western (28-21) scored one in the bottom of the second tying the score and in the third took a 3-1 lead on a two-run homer by Chloe Armstrong.
The Ichabods cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth taking advantage of a Griffon error when
Autymn Schreiner reached on the Missouri Western miscue. After a sac bunt from
Kimi Patterson, Schreiner scored on a double down the left field line from Robbins.
In the sixth, Patterson started the rally with a single to left and after a single from
Marrit Mead, Robbins again came through with a triple to right center driving in both Mead and Patterson putting Washburn up 4-3. Then in Washburn's next at bat,
Jaycee Ginter sent one over the right field fence scoring herself and Robbins as Washburn pushed the lead to 6-3.
In the top of the seventh, the Griffons managed only a single and Ginter struck out her eighth Missouri Western batter of the game slamming the door sending the Ichabods into the MIAA Tournament winners bracket final for the first time since the 2000 season.
Robbins led the Ichabod 11-hit attack going 3 for 3 with two runs scored and 3 RBI. Robbins moved to 10 for 10 batting against Missouri Western this season with seven runs scored and 5 RBI. Ginter drove in two and Friend had two hits.
Ginter moved her record to 30-3 tossing 142 pitches striking out eight with one walk.

• The Ichabods won their 24th game in a row.
• The Ichabods moved to 36-51 in the MIAA Tournament.

Marrit Mead scored her 58th run of the season, tying Tish Williams for the most on the Ichabod single season chart.
• Mead also collected her 81st hit of the season, moving closer to the Ichabod single season record of 85 set by Torrie Beauchamp.
