SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Ichabod women's tennis team topped the Vikings, 4-3, and advances to the NCAA Division II National Championship in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This is just the second time in program history.
Svea Crohn and
Marta Torres started the match by defeating Gabriela Jancikova and Laura Arce Vieyra, 6-3. Crohn and Torres won their seventh straight and their 20th match of the season. Augustana (21-2) evened up doubles play with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles.

Isabella Martensson and
Lara Schmid clinched the doubles point against Florentia Hadjigeorgiou and Aleksandra Kistanova with a 6-3 score at No. 1 doubles.
The Ichabods (16-11) won two straight-set singles matches to hold a 3-0 lead over the Vikings. Torres finished first, taking down Valeriya Monko, 6-0, 6-4.
Maja Jung followed closely behind with a 6-2, 6-3 win against Arce Vieyra.
However, the Vikings did not go down lightly. Augustana took three straight singles matches, including a win by retirement, to tie the match up at three apiece. The match was up to the winner at No. 6 singles between
Kinsey Fields and Margarita Chouliara. Fields decided the match in a 6-2, 7-5 straight-set victory.
The Ichabods are one of 16 teams advancing to the NCAA Division II National Championship in Altamonte Springs, Florida, from May 17-21.
