Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Washburn draws 0-0 with RiverHawks to end road trip

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Washburn (7-1-2, 2-0-1 MIAA) played Northeastern State (3-1-6, 0-1-2 MIAA) for 90 minutes Saturday afternoon and neither side was able to find the back of the net as they played to a 0-0 draw.

From the beginning, neither team could create much separation from the other, something that would remain consistent throughout the game. In the first half, the Ichabods did possess a slight shot advantage with six, compared to just two for the RiverHawks in the first 45 minutes.

Northeastern State goalkeeper Rebecca Partyka made five saves in the first half and would go on to make eight total in the game, playing all 90 minutes.

In the second half, the RiverHawks applied more pressure on Washburn's defense, taking 12 shots after halftime. Eight of those shots were on target and saved by Raegan Wells, who had nine total in the game, a new season-high for her. Three of those saves came in the final four minutes of the game when Northeastern State was pressing the most.

Wells played all 90 minutes of the match in goal, Carlee Thompson and Cloe Quintana each joined her for the entire match, helping to hold the RiverHawks scoreless.

Offensively the Ichabods took 11 shots in the game, and eight of them were on target, just could not get past the RiverHawk defense. Lakin Rold led Washburn with three shots taken in the game, two of them were on target. Haley Rogers had the second most shot attempts with two, both of which were also on-target.

Northeastern State was led in shots by Myka Heimbach, who took four in the game with three on-target. Sydney Taylor took three shots for the RiverHawks who saw all 14 shots come from starters.

This is the sixth game this season that has ended in a tie for Northeastern State. And for Washburn, it is the second time a game has finished as a scoreless draw after not seeing one since 2015 prior to this season.

The Ichabods return home from the four-game road trip with a battle at home against Missouri Western State, Friday, September 30 beginning at 6 p.m.
